Originally from Akron, Ohio I began my undergraduate studies at the University of Akron and finished at the University of Kentucky School of Music. I moved to the Cincinnati area and earned my Master of Music at University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. My influential teachers were Bill Adam from Indiana University, Arnold Jacobs Chicago Symphony, Mel Broiles Metropolitan Opera, and Eugene Blee Cincinnati Symphony. To each I owe much. I was privileged to teach at Xavier University, Northern Kentucky University, Transylvania University and Asbury University.
I am the founder of The Queen City Brass. As well as playing trumpet for the group I write most of the music. I spent twenty years as principal trumpet of the Kentucky Symphony, and ten with the Butler Philharmonic. During those years I played and recorded with the Cincinnati Symphony, Cincinnati Opera, and Cincinnati Pops. It was my privilege to play with Doc Severinsen, Ray Charles, and countless big name opera stars. I love choral music and spent 20 years as principal trumpet for Dr. Helmut Roehrig’s Musica Sacra orchestra. In 2023 I was privileged to accept the post as principal trumpet for ProMusic Arizona.
Many have come to know me through my show GunStuff TV which you can watch on Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire, and on local TV in 50 cities. You can watch our weekly streaming show Thursdays at 2pm ET on Rumble, Facebook, Twitter, and support our show with shooting sports purchases on GunStuff.tv. This show grew out of my award-winning work as a cinematographer and television director.
