Sony PXW-FS7 4K Camera Test

Sony PXW-FS7 4K Camera Test

This post is to give you my impressions of the new Sony PXW-FS7. I have spent an enormous amount of time, effort, and resources adapting my workflow to 4K. As a founding member of Early Adopters Anonymous I felt I owed it to my constituency to jump on board the 4K bandwagon.

I am using the FS7 with the new Sony 28-135 4.0 Servo Lens. The first test used this new Sony lens, shooting my Christmas tree in low light (too cold to go outside). I realized that in low light f/4.0 is too low, and this test would have been better with a faster lens. There is quite a bit of noise. For these test videos you should download the 4K version on Vimeo to get a better idea. I shot this first test in Custom mode. The idea of these tests and publishing this article is to provide a little support to other members of the FS7 chapter of EAA. Christmas test shot with Slog3.

I just realized how long it has been since I have updated the site. I have been too busy with commercial work to take much time to do so in the last year. The purpose of these posts are not to show off some fantastic projects, but just to share information that others may find helpful.

More on the FS7, shooting in Cine EI mode.
